Alcide Basso started building frames in his family's garage in 1974 and founded Basso in 1977. The bikes are still designed and made in the Veneto, between Treviso and Vicenza.

The story
From a family garage to the pro peloton.
Alcide's brother, Marino Basso, was a road world champion, and racing has been in the brand from the start. By the late 1970s Basso bikes were selling across Europe, starting with Germany, and in 1979 Eddy Merckx came to visit the factory.
Basso moved into carbon in 1996. Its frames have carried professionals including Gilberto Simoni and Dimitri Konyshev, and today the range runs from the aero SV to the Palta gravel bike.
